Success Stories

Let's see some of our best cases :)

1º Aceleradora 100+

(Ambev, Valgroup and Deink)

We were chosen by Ambev to develop a pilot where we could integrate socially assured cooperatives into their supply chain (including Deink and Valgroup) to produce shrink film with post consumed residue.

In order to do that, iWrc had to engage partner cooperatives with the iWrc University, and once socially assured, train them to sort the shrink film among the flexibles. Mixed with flexibles, shrink would probably become trash bags, but sorted, it would become new shrink packaging. Thus, we were able to improve the material’s aggregated value and generate 47% more revenue to the cooperatives.

iWrc benefited from the good relationship with partner cooperatives and designed a hub where we aggregated all the material before sending it to the client. Instead of having to pick it up in 10 different locations, the client only had to go to the iWrc hub, saving 72% in logistics costs.

The entire supply chain was tracked with our tracebility tool called Empower. This way, Ambev would know where the material came from, losses in the production process and as a result there was a QR code to what we call a product passport – where we were able to tell a story of how this new shrink sustainable package was transforming the industry.

At the end of the pilot we’re able to deliver the shrink package produced with 15% post consumed residue, and our next goal is to have it with more the 50%.

So+ma House

(Ocean Conservancy and So+ma)

iWrc partnered with Ocean Conservancy and So+ma to start the first OC House on Guarajuba Beach in Camaçari, Bahia. The idea is to encourage a change in community behavior in relation to recycling and beach cleaning, exchanging waste for points and benefits.

All residue received is donated to a local cooperative that is also being trained by iWrc University. Every month, the House receives an average of 6 tons of different types of recyclable waste (paper, plastic, aluminum, glass, etc.).

In February 2024, we opened the second house in Brazil in partnership with Ocean Conservancy, located in Praia Mole, in Florianópolis/SC, and we are moving forward to establish a third house in Salvador/BA.

Electronic Waste

(Fortune 10 ranking partner)

Since 2018, iWrc has been a partner with a Fortune 10 company that operates in the information technology (IT) sector to promote the inclusion of recycling cooperatives in its reverse logistics.

We encourage the circularity of electronic materials, enabling the movement of these materials between cooperatives and processors responsible for recycling these materials so that they can be reintroduced into the supply chain and transformed into new products and packaging for the electronics company.

Alongside the cooperatives, we develop skills and empower their members through the iWrc University, offering training and content that helps to improve working conditions, encourage education and effective waste management, promote the social and financial inclusion of autonomous pickers and members, and support the improvement of cooperative members’ income.

By 2023, the project managed to carry out the reverse logistics of more than 1,500,000 kg of electronic waste and had the participation of 40 recycling cooperatives in the State of São Paulo. Thanks to this partnership, we transferred around 2 million reais to the cooperatives and trained more than 1,300 members with the iWrc University.
